A Little Bit About Us...
Brian D. Bicking and Jeri Bellini
Jeri has been interested in creating since she was a young girl. Sewing, all sorts of Textiles, Mixed Media before it was called that and Fiber arts were always a part of her life as was using old and discarded things.
She started a family early on and was a stay at home mom. As her children got older she decided to venture out and go after something she had dreamed of her whole life... To own her very own business, and in 1997 she became the proud owner of a brick and mortar retail bead shop called My Father’s Beads. (another story on how it came to have this name) Here she shared her love of beading with others by teaching classes, sharing ideas and inspiring others to be creative. She closed her shop after 12 wonderful years because of a health problem but continues to be creative in many other ways! After this amazing 12 year long journey she became very interested in Recycling. She was tired of seeing things being tossed from un-use so instead of going to traditional stores to shop for art supplies she began looking in more unique places. Flea markets, consignment and thrift shops became a way of life. She loves the feel of a textured, old, worn leather book cover, old crinkly stained paper makes her heart sing! She can’t pass by a piece of vintage quilt or old lace that is tattered and torn without touching it... And she picks up rusty bits of metal when she finds them in the street! All this to say she is in love with creating new from old. She also has an over-abundance of bits from her years of collecting and with the love of running a business in her blood she and her husband Brian, have decided to embark on an adventure… Selling unique and unusual bits of history so that others can also create in an unconventional way. |
Brian has been a creative as far back as he can remember. Playing with random found junk he would build cool things in his backyard. On really special days he would go off with his grandfather and they would walk along the railroad tracks picking up odd pieces of metal, cans and bits of wood that Brian would later use in his creations.
As he got older his love of creating turned into a full time business of Home Remodeling. He built huge additions, remodeled older homes and made gardens beautiful! After doing this for over 30 years he has decided it’s time for a slight change. Brian has a serious addiction, err… love of old lamps, lamp parts, old metal file cabinets and oddly enough, vintage plates and silverware. His dream is to restore them to their former selves. He also creates garden art with plates and silverware. Brian is the more structured of the two, and has an eye for the technical aspects of creating. He measures things for accuracy whereas Jeri goes more for the freeform look! Together they make a great team and so decided it would be serious fun to sell parts as well as ‘Made with Love’ finished items. |
So as the story goes..... we started Recycled Parts 4 Art because we had to...
We are totally in love with old, worn, vintage bits and pieces of history. From a tarnished brass lamp and vintage ephemera to a stained and well loved quilt, they all have stories to tell and beg to be transformed into something beautiful! They want to be part of something new...
We hope to inspire you to rethink what some people consider junk, so that when you see a time worn piece of old metal or something tattered and torn, you will think as we do, “I can transform this into something useful and beautiful!"
We will share our ideas with you and get your creative juices flowing. Before you know it you will be creating unique things for your home, garden, friends and family! Oh my GOSH, just think of all the stuff we're going to keep out of the landfills!
